GIANYAR – Menandai pergantian tahun 2023, Museum ARMA Ubud mempersembahkan pameran tunggal seniman ternama Made Djirna.
Pameran yang dikuratori Alexande Goetz bertajuk “Retrospective Made Djirna 1992-2022” digelar pada 18 Desember 2023 hingga 7 Januari 2024.
Founder Museum ARMA Anak Agung Gede Rai mengatakan, Djirna merupakan salah seorang perupa Bali yang dikenal karyanya yang mengangkat berbagai persoalan kehidupan.
“Warna budaya Bali tersirat dengan kuat baik dalam lukisan dua dimensi maupun seni instalasi dan objek dengan berbagai medium yang dilahirkannya,” katanya, Senin (18/12/2023).
Menurut Agung Rai, pameran kali ini menyajikan sekitar 40 karya yang merefleksikan perjalanan berkesenian Djirna dalam kurun tiga dasa warsa terahir.
“Museum ARMA selain mengoleksi karya Djirna juga memberikan tempat untuk sebuah karya seni instalasi berukuran besar di salah satu sudut halaman di kawasan museum,” jelasnya.
Biografi pendek dalam katalog pameran dituliskan, karya Djirna dijiwai pengalaman hidup; yang dirasakan oleh indera, dan secara mendalam, mereka adalah cermin dari kesadaran diri terdalamnya atas seni dan perjalanan hidupnya.
Djirna mengeksplorasi berbagai teknik dan perspektif; tidak membatasi dirinya pada genre tertentu. Pada karya dua dimensi, secara utamanya bermain dengan warna dan tekstur yang menjadi corak untuk menopang bentuk rupa dari eksplorasi garis.
Pada karya patung dan instalasinya, terdapat eksplorasi bentuk dan ruang (spasial dan suasana) yang merupakan eksplorasinya atas bahan-bahan alami (seperti kayu, batu, tanah), baik yang diolah dari awal maupun yang didapat sebagai ready-made atau found object.
Secara keseluruhan, perupaan karya Djirna beranjak dari pengalaman dirinya secara pribadi dan dengan medium yang dieratkan dengan filosofi kehidupan tradisi Bali dan pencarian artistik serta estetika seni yang diperlakukan sesuai konteks ruang dan waktu.
Djirna lulus dari ASRI (kini ISI) Yogyakarta pada 1985, merupakan salah satu seniman Indonesia ternama atas eksplorasi seninya dan penggunaan medium alami serta ready-made untuk karya tiga dimensinya, dan media campuran pada karya dua dimensinya, yang di mana karyanya secara kontemporer mengakar pada tradisi Bali.
Djirna telah menerima banyak penghargaan atas karyanya dan telah diundang untuk berpartisipasi dalam berbagai pameran (tunggal dan kelompok) di berbagai galeri dan museum di Indonesia, Australi, Belanda, Guam, Singapura, dan Swiss.
Pameran tunggal pertamanya diadakan pada tahun 1989 di Northern Territory Museum of Art and Sciences, Australia.
Awal 2021, pameran tunggal terakhirnya dipersembahkan lewat pameran bertajuk, “The Voice of Nature”, di Mizuma Gallery, Singapura.
Karya-karyanya juga telah menjadi bagian dari berbagai pertunjukan besar, seperti beberapa di antaranya, “ArtJog 2023: Motif – Lamaran”, Jogja Nasional Museum, Indonesia (2023), “Asia Pacifc Triennale ke-10 (APT10)” di Queens Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art, Australi, “ArtJog 2019: Common Space”, Jogja Nasional Museum, Indonesia (2019), “ART•BALI 2018: Beyond the Myths”, ABBC Building, Indonesia (2018), “Jakarta Biennale 2017: JIWA”, Gudang Sarinah Ekosistem, Indonesia (2017), dan the “5th Singapore Biennale: An Atlas of Mirrors”, Singapore Art Museum, Singapura (2016).
Karya-karya Djirna telah dipersembahkan dalam berbagai pertunjukan di galeri pribadi dan ruang publik seperti di Galeri Nasional Indonesia, Jakarta, Indonesia; Museum fur Volkerkunde, Basel, Swiss; Singapore Art Museum, Singapur; Jogya National Museum, Yogyakarta, Indonesia; The Northern Territory Museum of Art and Science, Darwin, Australi; and others in Europe, Australi, and Amerika.
Karya Djirna juga menjadi bagian dari koleksi pribadi dan publik di Project Eleven, Melbourne, Australi; Museum Tumurun, Solo, Indonesia; Museum OHD, Magelang, Indonesia; Museum Seni Singapura, Singapura; Museum Seni dan Sains Northern Territory, Darwin, Australi; dan Museum fur Volkerkunde, Basel, Swiss.
